2023 Champion Meet

The Champion Meet is now 20 years old, with our first meet being in 2003. Swimmers, families, coaches, and volunteers are the energy and lifeblood of the meet. We are extremely thankful that everyone chooses to be a part of the meet year after year.

COACH’S MEETING – We will have a coach’s meeting at 4:40 PM on Friday in the hospitality room. The last heat of the 1650 will be swimming at this time. If you have a swimmer swimming in the last heat of the 1650 please find someone to represent your team at the meeting.

CHAMPION MEET HONOREE - All our honorees have been special, this year that is especially so. Max McHugh will be with us for the 2023 Champion Meet. Max, like his brother Conner a Champion Meet honoree a few years back, grew up swimming in the Champion Meet as a part of the Door County YMCA. Max produced one of the great moments in Champion Meet history in 2016, when as a 16 year old, he outswam Olympian Mike Alexandrov in the 200 breast. Since Max’s days as an age group swimmer, he has gone on to be one of the best breaststrokers in history. Max has won 3 NCAA titles in the 100 breast and 1 NCAA title in the 200 breast for the University of Minnesota, he has been an Olympic Trials finalist, and one of only 2 men ever to break 50 seconds in the 100 yard breast.

NO RELAYS – Unfortunately, we are not going to able to run relays in either session this year. We apologize, cutting the relay saves about 60 minutes off Saturday’s timeline. If you have a swimmer that was counting on leading off a relay as a chance to get 50 free time, let me know by Monday at noon and we will find a way to get them the opportunity for a 50 free time. We will delete them out of the meet and get teams an updated entry fee number. Again, we apologize.

UPDATES / CHANGES – we can take updates and changes until Monday at noon. Just email me a new entry file. This is a HARD DEADLINE. I will be out of town Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and won’t be able to make changes. There are only 2 more spots in the 1650. If anyone is going to add the 1650 please contact Jay Coleman first.

1650 FREE – if you have entered a 1650 swimmer with a NT or you have entered a swimmer with a time that they are going to go significantly faster than, please email Jay Coleman an estimated time so that our heats are relatively competitive.
